My Thoughts on A.I. And Do I Use A.I.

For those who may not know me or my music, I go by the stage name "1HiT 1Der". I am a normal guy who likes to make music. It helps me relax and is a healthy outlet for me to get my emotions out. I am also a very private person, so there is not a lot of information about me or who I am on the internet. The music is what I want to use to bring all my fans together, not "who" I am. If you listen to my music, you'll get to know me and my personality. My music represents me and different points of time in my life. Everyone can hear at least one of my songs and think, "I felt that too". We don't have to "know" each other to connect with each other.

I released my first music single in January 2018, and my first album the following year. From 2018 to 2024, I released over 55  music albums (over 600 songs). All the music was created by me (a human). I paid singers to sing my lyrics (I write my own lyrics for the majority of my songs), and I paid musicians to play instruments (pianos, guitars, violins, flutes, etc). I use a lot of different “real” instruments in my music creations.

Paying people to do these things costs a lot of money ($100’s to $1000’s for me). I am not making money from my music, I am losing money by making music.

I release music every month, and around July 2024, I started experimenting with A.I. music. It was ok then, but not perfect. With "real humans" and A.I. combined, the music can sound great. From then to now, what A.I. has done for me is change my music quality (I believe for the better) and has given me the option to add more to my music for a lower cost. I still use real humans to help me make my music, but I use fewer people to do it because A.I. can fill in my musical “blanks” now.

The Problem A.I. Usage Has Created

The problem music artists, like myself, are having is that even though I still use “humans” to help make my music, if there is ANY element that is A.I. (let’s say there is A.I. generated “clapping” or “chord” in the song), companies like Tidal, Spotify, etc, are labeling the whole song as A.I. generated, and companies are starting to treat some music artist as if they have committed some type of crime for saving money by using it in different elements of their song.

With that said, I understand there are people out there doing their best to “Game” the music industry to make money. People are making songs to sound like Taylor Swift, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter (etc) so they can make money from their success. That is WRONG, and Tidal, Spotify, YouTube, Pandora (etc), should go after them and remove their music from their platforms. But, again, the problem is they are grouping good music artists and scammer music artists together, and penalizing both (because it is cheaper NOT to research and see who is and who is not a real music artist).

For those that might not be catching on, think of it this way (I enjoy analogies): One day, the world decides that if you own a computer (a cellphone, laptop, desktop, tablet, smartboard, a Tesla, anything with a computer), you MUST be a hacker. We all know that just because you own a computer, it does not mean you are a hacker trying to break into any system you can. However, this is what the music industry is starting to do to ANY music artist that is using ANY A.I. elements.

Personal Thoughts On A.I.

To be honest, what happens in the music industry does not affect my life. I have a job, I pay my bills, and I have extra money to make music. Also, I am not trying to be the next big "Thing" in the music industry (it would be cool though).

However, I feel bad for the people who are trying to make it "Big" in the music industry, but are now fighting the A.I. battle with their music. Based on the current system, anyone can accuse you of using A.I. or being a bad actor on streaming platforms with no proof. The big question is: How can any legitimate music artist prove their innocence? “Proof” is a subjective thing. You can send proof, but people/platforms may not approve of your "proof". It is a never-ending rabbit hole music artists have to face now.

I went a little off the rails, but you know my views and usage of A.I. now.
